History of Life Resolutions^®

Mary Magalotti founded Life Resolutions^® in January 2001.  The first practice opened its doors in Brunswick, Victoria.  The company was initially known as Brunswick Road Counselling, however the branding and name changed to Life Resolutions when a second location was opened in October 2003.

Mary’s motivation for opening her own private practice was that she knew it would allow her to work most successfully as a Psychologist with her passion for deep and engaging work with clients, without the limitations that some funded programs have.  Mary has an acute business acumen that allowed her to have the confidence to know that it would be an extremely successful business.

In only a few short months of opening, a second Psychologist was employed to assist Mary with the overflow of clients.  As the business continued to grow more staff were employed. Mary invested in higher marketing expenditure and better infrastructure, which resulted in a more professional organisation. From this growth, there were increased profits and the opening of a third practice.

In January 2005 Mary Magalotti and Jodie Brenton joined forces, which was to be the drive behind the present success of Life Resolutions^®.  Mary and Jodie compliment each other very well, bringing opposite strengths and skills to the company.  Mary as an accomplished business person and Psychologist, and Jodie also a successful business person and expert in marketing and media.

It was Jodie’s idea to build a company that could be successful enough to grant practices to BAs.  After an enormous amount of research and consultation, Mary and Jodie decided to commence a separate company, still holding the Life Resolutions^®’ name, to put a bigger dream into action.  This dream would have many benefits.  Firstly, it would hopefully assist in lifting psychology out of its cottage industry image into a more understood, professional and trusted one. The secondary benefit, in conjunction with all the work invested by organisations such as the Australian Psychology Society, would be to place Psychologists on the map so to speak.  This would involve educating the public on the benefits of counselling, as well as the differences between Psychologists, counsellors and psychiatrists. 

We have seen that it is often a dream for Psychologists to own their own successful private practices, however many struggle to do what they love and make a successful living out of it.  Life Resolutions^® offers the opportunity for Psychologists to fulfil that dream, without all the headaches and confrontations that come with attempting to build a practice.  Life Resolutions^®’ Business Associate Program grants fully serviced private practices to highly competent Psychologists. 

Life Resolutions^®’ focus is on creating an emotionally healthier society.  This focus is now combined with an objective to establish a recognised brand, synonymous with exceptional psychology services.  We also aim to continue to love doing what we do and for all staff and BAs to sincerely enjoy being part of the Life Resolutions^® team and to have an enjoyable experience on the journey to success.
