What is Porn Addiction?

Porn addiction is a particular subcategory of sexual addiction. In porn addiction, the primary focus of the addiction is on pornographic literature or images. Porn addiction is referred to as a "process" addiction where the euphoric feeling - or high - comes from chemicals released into the brain, rather than from an external source like drugs or alcohol. As the mind gradually becomes accustomed to the release of these chemicals, it searches out for continued sources of that high. For the porn addict, this high comes from the visual stimulus of looking at pornographic magazines, movies, books, or web sites. This stimulus is usually, but not always, accompanied by masturbation.
