Psychological Assessments

While the idea of being tested or assessed is always a bit daunting, psychological assessments are usually very easy to do and you won’t need to do any preparation for the testing. When you speak to one of Our Team members, they’ll let you know how long your session on the day will last. Sometimes, it takes 2 or 3 visits to complete an assessment so you don’t get ‘brain drain’.

Assessments come in a few different forms depending on your needs, such as:

• Face to face interview – sitting with one of our team members and answering questions
• Pen and paper tests – completing forms to answer questions
• Performance testing – being asked to perform a task such as assembling blocks in a particular pattern
• Assessment of reports and written material – we carefully review any paperwork you give us including medical, family or other reports, letters, emails, the referral or assessment request, court orders, information from lawyers,
• Workcover/Insurer documents

You should bring along any relevant paperwork that you might have to the assessment and we’ll make a copy for our records.

Court and Tribunal Reports

There are a variety of different Victorian courts and tribunals that may request you seek a psychological assessment including:

• Family court
• Criminal court
• Traffic court
• Drug court
• Koori court
• Children’s court
• VCAT
• VOCAT

Your legal representative might also ask you to see a Psychologist in anticipation of a court date.

When you see a Psychologist and they write a report for court for you, they are bound by the Expert Witness Code of Conduct and they must agree to provide all of the relevant information available to them in the report.

Vocational Testing

Vocational assessments can be needed for a specific purpose (such as gaining entry into a course, workplace or rehabilitation reasons, or as part of job seeking) or just to gain a better understanding about our career interests and work-related abilities (see our Careers page). Sometimes an injury or other event means our capacity to work in our normal work is drastically changed, and we have to begin a new career journey.

Being tested is easy and normally involves pen and paper forms and a discussion with a Consultant. It is important to make sure you allow enough time to complete the assessment on the day so talk with your Consultant prior to your booking understand how long you’ll need to be at our offices.

• Identifying your values and the best fit for you
• Identifying specific suitable roles/jobs
• Ability and aptitude testing to understand your strengths and weaknesses
• Identifying and assessing any medical or other barriers that might make it difficult to work and providing you with
