Hargun is driven to create a safe space to feel heard and safe, her style is easy-going, friendly and authentic, relying on dialogue and reflection. Her aim is to help clients break away from repetitive, maladaptive life stories, form new stories about themselves and have more fulfilling lives. Hargun is bi-lingual (English & Hindi) and familiar with various cultures.
Holding her Bachelor’s in Psychology as well as a Masters in Psychology, Masters in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology, she started her career with a wide exposure to many areas of clinical psychology in a government setting. Over time she has gained experience and expertise in working with trauma in adolescents, adults and relationships.
Working collaboratively with clients to understand their needs, Hargun develops a unique treatment plan using a variety of techniques. Depending on how the client presents, Hargun utilises a range of therapies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) Mindfulness-based therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
She started her career with a wide exposure to many areas of clinical psychology in a government setting and enjoyed working with adults and children alike. Over time she has gained experience and expertise in working with trauma in adolescents, adults and relationships. This trauma often presents as PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse and couple conflict and she finds herself working more and more with trauma histories to help clients feel better about current symptoms. She has recently been involved in couples therapy and uses an emotionally focussed approach in couples work.
