A psychologist is a skilled and qualified person who studies and researches the science of human behaviour. A psychologist works as a facilitator with a client in order to provide avenues to help the latter reduce stress and negativities in life. Aside from that, a psychologist can also aid clients to improve their self-awareness, thinking patterns and habits. This can result in the client to have a more positive outlook, which can reflect how clients meet their responsibilities at home, school, work, and relationships.

What makes Graeme Rawson Psychology different is that we’re very discerning about who joins our professional team. Before psychologists can join Graeme Rawson Psychology, they should have at least four years university education, two years graduate education and two years’ supervised work experience period under the supervision of a trained psychologist. Our sports and clinical psychologists need to have a 6-year tertiary education, which includes PhD research. Our team’s educational and professional experience is more than enough to guarantee that once clients work with Graeme Rawson Psychology, they will only be working with the best in the industry.

All of our psychologists use non-drug treatment, but if there is a need for medication, we’ll work with different medical practitioners to come up with a suitable treatment plan for clients. We will strive to create solutions that are tailored-fit for the client’s needs and wants.

One kind of therapy doesn’t work for all types of problems and issues; every client is unique. Therefore, we use a variety of therapies that can help clients achieve their short and long-term goals. Some of the therapies we commonly use are as follows:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT
  • Psychoanalysis
  • Psychotherapy
  • Solution Focused Therapy

In its simplest sense, counselling is a professional service that’s linked to mental health care. Counselling is present to help you become more resilient, self-aware and cope better emotionally and mentally with the stressors in life. When your mental health is optimal, you can easily get through different problems without compromising other aspects of your life. You’ll know better how to handle issues so these won’t worsen over time.

Counselling can serve anyone in all walks of life. It doesn’t matter what your social standing or educational background is. As long as you reach out to us, we can sign you up for counselling. This is an avenue which can help you understand yourself and behaviour, so you can lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Yes, if you’re willing to do the hard work required in the process. Counselling is appropriate for anyone who wants to change their lives and make drastic improvements towards positive change.

Our team has qualified psychologists and therapies that can help you:

  • Develop mentally;
  • Improve mechanisms for coping; and
  • Resolve recurring issues.

In summary, counselling can help you in more ways than one as it doesn’t only solve individual issues, but it can also provide long-term solutions to guide you to lead a more deserving and enjoyable life.

Yes, our team can prepare reports for clients if they need such documents for court proceedings, WorkCover or TAC. Regardless of the purpose, we can ensure that we can provide clients with the necessary documents that they need. But keep in mind that producing these documents will also require you to pay extra. Before our team can provide you with these documents, you’ll be quoted with a fee that needs to be paid beforehand. Once fully paid, our psychologists can easily write up a report for you. Just let us know when you’ll need these documents so we can prepare them as soon as possible.

Of course, not! All of the sessions carried out at a Graeme Rawson Psychology are 100% private and confidential. Once you work with us, you can be assured that all of the information conveyed to the team at Graeme Rawson Psychology will only be used for the purpose of helping you get through the trying times of your life. Any information you provide to us will only be utilized to determine what the real problem is and come up with solutions that are appropriate for you.

However, you have to take note that Life Resolution’s confidentiality agreement has certain limitations. As stated by the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Ethics, there’ll be valid reasons why our team may need to break confidentiality. For instance, if you intend to harm yourself or the community around you, Graeme Rawson Psychology must abide by the rules set by the law. If your files are subpoenaed by the court, the team must adhere to what is asked.

The cost of a client’s appointment will vary depending on the length of the session and the psychologist you need to see. All of the cases we handle are different, which means that these also require different types of therapies and skills from our psychologists. But you can be sure that our rates are competitive and reasonable.

Costs will also vary depending on whether you’re a part of a group or you only need a one-on-one session. Concession card holders and pensioners are also eligible for discounts. Medicare rebates are also available once clients start with our services.

There are medical rebates available for the “Better Access to Mental Health Care” government initiative. There are also rebates for public health care but will be dictated by your level of cover with the provider. If you’re interested to know more about the rebates that one is entitled to, you can check your policy for more details.

This depends on the reason why you have visited Graeme Rawson Psychology in the first place. Some clients require more sessions for ongoing support while some may only require one or two sessions just to get additional guidance in life. The more serious the problem, the longer the number of sessions the client might have to take.
