Yes, all counselling sessions are 100% confidential. Everything that’s discussed in your therapy session won’t be shared with anyone else. Not even our other psychologists without direct permission from you.
What’s shared with your psychologist is used to help address, diagnose and work out a treatment plan to best help and support you through this difficult time.
It’s important to note however that under the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Ethics there’s some confidentiality limitations.
If your files are subpoenaed by the court or if you’re at risk of harming you or those around you, we must then follow the law to help protect you and those around you.
