Children and adolescents may be affected by various life events, incidents, and family issues that can result in behavioral difficulties and problems with adjustment. Our services can be tailored to the needs of children and adolescents or tailored for you to be able to tackle their issues as their parents or guardians.

Neuro-psychological studies have in fact shown that children who have witnessed or experienced grief, violence, abuse, trauma, or neglect do experience cognitive difficulties in some areas. (Mccrory et al., 2011; McLaughlin et al., 2014).

Our play therapy program provides the child with a safe, predictable place to explore, experiment and use symbolic representation to help cope with and change unmanageable feelings and thoughts.

It is understandable that sometimes relationships between parents and children or adolescents can prove to be challenging and exhausting. However, counselling can help parents and adolescents explore effective ways to communicate and eventually improve their relationships.

Definitely! Life Resolutions Psychologists are registered with the Psychologist Board of Australia, and as such abide by the principles of professional conduct, confidentiality, and responsibilities. These are all set and monitored by the Australian Psychological Society in its code of ethics.

As such, the information that you share during these sessions is used for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment, and assessment. These help us provide you with the best support based on the information you share.

However, as stated in the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Ethics, there are limitations to this confidentiality. These include if there’s an immediate or a specified risk of harm to you or to identifiable people around you, or if your file is subpoenaed by law.

Our psychologists are all registered Medicare providers, which means they can take referrals under the Better Access to Mental Health Care, or GP referrals. We also provide Employee Assistance Programs. We also accept self-referrals as we find that sometimes, if we’ve helped other clients before, word spreads and some members of the community also approach us for help.

We are part of the larger Life Resolutions network, and please contact our Client Service Centre at 1300 668 256.

If you are eligible for a GP referral (Mental Health Treatment Plan), you will receive the Medicare rebate of $84.80 per session.

If you have Private Health Insurance, you may use your ancillary cover to pay for psychological counselling (check with your health fund for specific details).

To help you manage your time and health, an automated SMS system will remind you of your appointment with an option to confirm or cancel.

Our time with you is reserved for you and you alone, as such please let us know as soon as possible if there is any need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please be aware that a cancellation fee is payable should less than 24 hours of notice is given to us.
