Your First Psychologist Appointment: What To Expect

Posted on

Life Resolutions Psychologist Appointment

At Life Resolutions, we understand that your first appointment with a psychologist may be daunting, but really, there is nothing to be worried. Our friendly team of psychologists and counsellors are committed to ensuring our clients are made as comfortable and relaxed as possible. We provide you with a safe, judgement-free and confidential environment, so all you need to focus on is talking.

For your first appointment, it is good to come in around five to ten minutes early so that you can complete the necessary paperwork, meet our welcoming team and sit a relax for a moment before beginning your session.

During your first appointment, your psychologist will generally talk you through the confidentiality process and then chat to you about what has bought you to the clinic.

Remember that this is our job, we are here to provide you with the support you require, and we have the professional skills and knowledge to do this. The first step in seeking mental health support is always the hardest, but once you take it, you’ll start on the path towards long-lasting mental wellbeing. Everyone deserves to feel valued, worthwhile and happy, and you are no exception.

Your first appointment is usually used for your psychologist to get to know you and understand the support that you require so that they are able to put together a treatment plan. The psychologist will ask guiding questions to get all the information they need, so there is no need to worry about what you should or shouldn’t speak about. You can trust that your psychologist is a skilled professional, it is their job to help you, their couch is your safe space to share whatever you need and to receive the support you need to achieve optimal mental health.

Mary Magalotti Life Resolutions

Prior to joining Jodie Brenton in 2001, Mary Magalotti had her own private practice psychology firm in Melbourne where she worked as a psychologist. With her career choice being a psychologist, she has always devoted her time to other mental health wellbeing. She also had the same vision making mental health services more available to those throughout her home country. She understood that if psychologists personally had to spend less time working on administrative, marketing, finance, and all other internal business operation work, then the psychologists will have more free time to spend with patients in need.

Life Resolutions

Jodie Brenton has personally devoted over 15 years to aid psychologists in their private practices throughout the country. Jodie Brenton is the current CEO & Director of Life Resolutions. She met Mary Magalotti and founded Life Resolutions in 2001 with the goal of improving the accessibility and availability of mental health services in Australia. This was done by reducing the admin work that she found private practice psychologists had to deal with after working with them for many years. She found that much time was wasted doing paperwork when this time could be spent with patients or clients that need mental health services. With Life Resolutions, Jodie Brenton is responsible for creating solutions in the private practice field by creating enhancements in private practice systems, administration, and marketing operations.
